Mrs. Greene passed away surrounded by her family on September 16, 2024.
Wilma Jean Ellis was born on May 21, 1935 to William Ira Ellis and Willie Beatrice Ellis (Crawford) in Purcell, Okla. She grew up in Wayne, attended school there, and graduated with the Bulldog Class of 1953. Over the years she enjoyed attending class reunions and keeping up with her childhood friends.
After graduating, Jean began working at the McClain County Clerk’s office. That experience led her to work for Guaranty Abstract Co. of McClain County, where she worked her way up to ownership in 1987. Jean was the owner and operator until her retirement in the mid-1990s. She was very active in professional circles over the years as a proud member of the County Clerk’s Association, American Land Title Association and the Oklahoma Land Title Association. She traveled to many events coast to coast participating in the title association at a national level, visiting New York, Florida, and Hawaii which allowed her to network and hear prestigious special speakers.
When she wasn’t working, Jean enjoyed beach trips to Port Aransas, and lake trips at Texoma. Jean served in the Okeyha Mother’s Club and booster club while her kids were young, and she was a life-long supporter of small businesses and downtown revitalization in Purcell.
She loved spending time with her family and hosting holiday meals and get togethers. Her door was always open. She loved visiting and hearing all about each and every one of us. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, William and Willie Ellis; her husband, Kenneth Greene, and her brothers Dawson Ellis, Howard Ellis, Raymond Ellis, Harold Ellis and Sidney Ellis.
She is survived by her children, Carol DiRienzo and husband, Tony of Purcell, Kenneth Paul Greene and wife, Debbie, of Purcell and Kristi Adkins and husband, Robert, of Purcell; her grandchildren, Taiz Forney and husband, Ben, Laura DiRienzo and wife, Cristina, Grant DiRienzo and Keenan Middleton, Amanda Nelson, Amber Keely and husband, Zack, Jaclyn Farquar, Tyler Greene, Blake Greene, Derek Adkins and Racheal Adkins and Jeremiah Bivins; great-grandchildren, Benjamin Forney, Thea Forney, Halo DiRienzo, Wyatt Mills, Lucas Jones, Mandolin Keely, Oliver Greene, Jack Farquar, Ophelia Adkins, Zayne Adkins and a host of family and friends.
The family would also like to send a special thanks to Cindy Horn, Dr. Brian Dye and Valir Hospice Care.
