Purcell’s Citywide Garage Sale will be held Friday, June 3, and Saturday, June 4.

No city permit is needed for the citywide weekend.

Bring your kids, and family to the Second Annual Purcell’s Walk The Trail Day from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 4.

Lots of things are on tap for the day.

The trail is a relatively new addition to Purcell Lake, and is an easy one mile loop that includes beautiful views, things for the kids and a new bathroom facility.

The event is being hosted by the City of Purcell Parks and Recreation Department and the Heart of Oklahoma Chamber of Commerce.

The TSET Healthy Living Program is working alongside the Purcell Police Department, the City of Purcell,and Purcell Public Schools to host the 2nd Annual Play Streets Events!

Play Streets will be held June 6, 13 and 27 and July 11 and 25.

For those of you who are not familiar with Play Streets, organizers will shut down part of the drive on the south end of the TSET location, 919 N. 9th Ave., where the Library/School/Health Department is located, and open the area up for children to come play.

Lots of activities are planned and kids are encouraged to attend.

The Purcell Public Library will present “Wildlife in Your Neighborhood: How to be a Good Neighbor” from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, at the Purcell Lake Rotary Pavilion.

Discover more about Oklahoma’s wildlife and how you can be a good neighbor to our animal friends.

The program is designed for children ages three to five and registration is required.

Learn how you can help Oklahoma’s wildlife in this program with WildCare Oklahoma. Find out more about animal rehabilitation, natural wildlife behaviors, and how you can help in your own backyard with hands-on activities and exploration.

The Washington Masonic Lodge is sponsoring an all-you-can-eat breakfast from 7-10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 18.

All money raised will go to the Children’s Hospital Foundation.

The meal includes eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes and biscuits and gravy among other treats.

The Lodge is located at 200 W. Sharp Ave. in Washington.

Purcell’s Independence Day Celebration will be held Friday, July 1, at the Purcell City Lake.

The celebration will include food trucks, games, a car show and the fireworks show.

I made this last minute and everyone loved it!

One Pot Smoked Sausage Pasta

3 Tbsp olive oil

2 lb. sm.oked sausage

1 medium onion chopped

3 cloves minced garlic

2 cups chicken broth

12 oz. can diced tomatoes

1/2 cup heavy cream

1/4 teaspoon pepper

8 oz. bowtie pasta

2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Slice smoked sausage into bite sized pieces.

Add olive oil to pan and sauté onions and sausage. Stir in garlic.

Add chicken broth, diced tomatoes, cream, and pepper. Stir till mixed well.

Add pasta. Make sure that the pasta is stirred into the sauce and covered with liquid.

Cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes.

Add 1 cup of cheddar cheese. Stir until melted.

Serve with additional cheese and sour cream if desired.
