I have to give a shout-out to Rick Colwell of Purcell!

He brought by a bag of sweet Vidalia onions for me since he reads my recipes all the time and knows I like to cook.

I really appreciate getting the onions and they are so good!

School is out all over the Heart of Oklahoma!

Crosswalks and neighborhood streets will be filled with children celebrating the beginning of summer.

The message is simple: Mortorists - Put down the phone, stay alert and watch out for these precious, vulnerable children.

Bring your kids, and family to the Second Annual Purcell’s Walk The Trail Day from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 4.

Lots of things are on tap for the day.

The trail is a relatively new addition to Purcell Lake, and is an easy one mile loop that includes beautiful views, things for the kids and a new bathroom facility.

The event is being hosted by the City of Purcell Parks and Recreation Department and the Heart of Oklahoma Chamber of Commerce.

The TSET Healthy Living Program is working alongside the Purcell Police Department, the City of Purcell,and Purcell Public Schools to host the 2nd Annual Play Streets Events!

Play Streets will be held June 6, 13 and 27 and July 11 and 25.

For those of you who are not familiar with Play Streets, organizers will shut down part of the drive on the south end of the TSET location, 919 N. 9th Ave., where the Library/School/Health Department is located, and open the area up for children to come play.

Lots of activities are planned and kids are encouraged to attend.

Purcell’s Citywide Garage Sale will be held Friday, June 3, and Saturday, June 4.

No city permit is needed for the citywide weekend.

The Purcell Public Library will present “Wildlife in Your Neighborhood: How to be a Good Neighbor” from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, at the Purcell Lake Rotary Pavilion.

Discover more about Oklahoma’s wildlife and how you can be a good neighbor to our animal friends.

The program is designed for children ages three to five and registration is required.

The Purcell Register will be closed on Monday, May 30, in observance of Memorial Day.

The office will be open at 8 a.m. Tuesday morning and all deadlines will remain the same.

I’m always looking for easy chicken recipes and this one fits the bill!

Disappearing Chicken Casserole

8 oz. cream cheese

1 cup sour cream

1 cup mayonnaise

2 4 oz. cans green chilies

12 oz. shredded cheddar cheese

1 lb. chicken breasts

1/2 tsp. garlic salt

Preheat oven to 350°.

Cook chicken breasts until tender. Cool.

Shred and add all ingredients together in a 9x13 pan. Bake for 30-35 minutes.
