The Purcell Register will have early deadlines for the issue of November 25 because of the Thanksgiving Holiday.

All ads, classified ads and news must be in the office by Monday, November 22, at 11 a.m.

The paper will be available Tuesday, November 23, at 2:30 p.m.

Washington hosts Jones Friday night at 7 p.m. in the second round of the playoffs.

The Purcell Public Library will hold its 3rd Saturday Book Group from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, November 20.

Adults are invited to join in for a virtual book discussion each month!

In November, the discussion will be held on A Good Neighborhood by Therese Anne Fowler.

The Fifth Annual Tacky Sweater 5K and Fun Run will be held Saturday, December 4.

Check in starts at 7 p.m. at the Purcell Multi-Purpose Center and the run begins at 9 p.m.

All registration fees will go to The Fallen Outdoors Oklahoma Team.

Lights from the Heart will open at the Purcell Lake  Wednesday, November 24, and will continue through December 31.

The drive around the lake will be lit up nightly by more than 190 animated structures.

Hours will be 5:30 to 10 p.m.

Admission is free. However, donations will be accepted.

The Annual Christmas Parade and Tree Lighting  will be held Thursday, December 9, on Main Street in Purcell.

The Tree Lighting Ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the parade to start at 6 p.m.

The Wayne Fire Department is holding its 31st annual Toy Drive.

Firefighters are currently accepting toy donations, $10 value, or cash donations to help them meet their goal.

Toys will be given to children at the department’s program December 11.

They are also selling chances on a drawing for several items.

Here is another great Thanksgiving dinner recipe! It comes from Janet Woolly.

Hominy Casserole

3 cans white hominy, drained

3 cans yellow hominy, drained

2 cans chopped green chilies

16 oz. Hiland French Onion dip

1 lb. grated Velveeta cheese

1 medium onion, finely chopped

1 tsp. salt

1 tsp. pepper

Heat oven to 350°.

Mix all ingredients together.

Place in greased 9x13 inch casserole dish and bake for 1 hour.
