The Purcell Public Library will present “CSI: Red River with the Oklahoma History Center” Wednesday, June 10, from 2-3 p.m. in the meeting room of the library.
Based on the real events of the discovery of the shipwrecked Steamboat Heroine in the Red River, participants will use STEAM to “solve the mystery” of what was suddenly discovered at the bottom of the river and what it tells us about Oklahoma history.
Participants will learn how historians and archaeologists approach sites like crimes scenes, understand basic historical research and archaeological methods, and get a deeper understanding of a lesser-known element of Oklahoma history.
The event is designed for teens 12-17 and registration is required for the program.

Join American Storytellers as they bring history to life through the art of storytelling. The 1930s milkman storytelling experience spotlights the true story of Clarence “Ducky” Nash and his journey from his family’s farm in rural Oklahoma to the streets of Tinseltown.
He was discovered for his voice whilst delivering milk in Hollywood by Walt Disney, and Nash went on to become THE voice of Donald Duck for 50 years!
The program is for all age groups and registration is required.

The Purcell Municipal Hospital Foundation is sponsoring a golf tournament benefiting the foundation Saturday, June 20, at the Brent Bruehl Memorial Golf Course in Purcell.
Check-in for the tournament begins at 7 a.m. with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
The cost for a four-man team is $400. A 50/50 drawing will benefit the foundation scholarship program.

Purcell’s Independence Day Celebration will be held Friday, June 26, at the Purcell City Lake.
The festivities will begin at 5 p.m. and will include food trucks, games and a car show with the fireworks showbeginning at 9:45 p.m.

This recipe is perfect for busy weeknights and pairs well with mashed potatoes or a fresh salad.
Crockpot Ranch Chicken
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1 packet ranch seasoning mix
10.5 oz. can cream of chicken soup
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup chicken broth
Salt and pepper to taste
Place chicken breasts in the crockpot. Season with salt and pepper.
In a bowl, mix ranch seasoning, cream of chicken soup, sour cream, and chicken broth.
Pour the sauce over the chicken breasts.
Cook on low for 6-7 hours or on high for 3-4 hours, until the chicken is tender.
NOTE: You can also substitute the breasts for thighs.
