The Washington Masonic Lodge #406 will hold a Breakfast Fund-raiser Saturday, April 25, from 7-10 a.m. at the Lodge, 200 West Sharp Ave.

All you can eat tickets are $10 and includes scrambled eggs, sausage, pancakes, biscuits and gravy and a drink.

The breakfast will benefit the Goldsby Fire Department.

The Purcell Public Library will present the final program in “Healthier You: A Way to Wellness” Thursday, April 23, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the meeting room of the library.

A Way to Wellness is a free, evidence-based health education program designed to support adults in building sustainable, healthy lifestyles.

Class will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and will be led by Tamara Powell, Health Planning Specialist, alongside Bret Wood, Community Engagement and Health Planning manager, and Jasmin Lujan, Advanced Practice Registered Nurse for the McClain County Health Department.

The program is designed for adults and registration is required.

The Purcell Dragons Band is hosting a fundraiser Saturday, April 25, at the Brent Bruehl Memorial Golf Course.

Included in the days event are a golf tournament, car show with classics, customs and crowd favorites and a craft fair with local vendors, handmade goods and unique finds.

The City of Purcell is hosting a shredding and Rx Take Back and E-Waste recycling event Saturday, April 25, from 9 a.m.-12 noon at the Purcell Police Department.

Cars should enter the police department parking lot from Grant Street and follow the signs.

For ease, safety and efficiency, citizens are asked to remain in their vehicles while members collect all acceptable items.

The crockpot makes easy work of this tasty chicken, a lighter version of the classic pot roast recipe.

Crockpot Cheesy Chicken and Rice

10 oz. can cream of chicken soup

10 oz. can cheddar cheese soup

1/2 cups water

1 small onion diced

1 cup uncooked rice

4 chicken breasts

1/2 tbsp lemon pepper seasoning

Salt and pepper to taste

Shredded cheese for topping

In a medium bowl, combine cream of chicken soup, cheddar cheese soup, water, diced onion and rice. Stir well to combine.

Spray your slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray. Put chicken breasts in the bottom of the slow cooker.

Season with Lemon & Pepper Seasoning, salt and pepper.

Pour soup mixture over chicken breasts. Cover and cook on low 6-8 hours.

Sprinkle additional shredded cheese on top and cover for an additional 5-10 minutes until cheese is melted.
