Moon and a Movie Night featuring “Moana” will be held at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, October 25, at 1400 Chandler Road in Purcell
In addition to the movie, Purcell Parks & Recreation will also have hands-on astronomy activities, telescopes, science demos, crafts, prizes and plenty of popcorn.
Admission is free and those attending are reminded to bring blankets and lawn chairs.

This year’s Heart of Oklahoma Chamber of Commerce Halloween of the Heart - Treats on the Trail will be held Saturday, November 1, from 3-6 p.m. at the Purcell Lake.
House-to-house trick or treating in Purcell will also be held on Saturday, November 1.

The Purcell High School Show Choir will be sponsoring a spook house at the Boney Matthews Field House Friday and Saturday, October 24 and 25, with food trucks at 7 p.m. and the spook house from 8-11 p.m.
The house will also be open until midnight on Friday, October 31, Halloween night, following the football game and again on Saturday, November 1, from 8-11 p.m.

Trick or Treating in Lexington will be held on October 31 from 6-8 p.m. at the Charlie McCown Park, 200 E. Broadway.
The event is sponsored by the Lexington FFA/4-H Booster Club and the Lexington Police Department.

The Pioneer Library System Foundation invites families to the 3rd Annual Royal Games, a free, family-friendly garden party for children and their caregivers, on Saturday, November 8, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Veterans Park in Newcastle.
This year marks the first time the Royal Games will be held in Newcastle.
This enchanting event will transport children and their caregivers into a world of princes, princesses, knights, and jesters through games, crafts, story time, and other hands-on activities.
Kids are encouraged to wear medieval or royal costumes to add to the fun.

This is one of my favorite cool weather recipes.
Santa Fe Soup
1 lb. lean ground beef
1 medium onion
1 can Rotel
2 cans Mexican style stewed tomatoes
2 cans ranch style pinto beans
1 can corn
1 lb. Mexican Velveeta Cheese
Brown beef and onions, drain. Combine all the ingredients, except the cheese, in a slow cooker on low.
Cook for 2-3 hours then add the cheese and continue cooking until the cheese melts.
