The Heart of Oklahoma Kiwanis Annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held Saturday, April 19, at the Purcell Lake Weaver Pavilion, 1400 Chandler Road.

Each age group will have their own hunt and prizes. Age groups include 0-2, 3-5, 6-8 and 9-12.

The Easter Bunny will be available for pictures.

The hunt begins at 9:30 a.m. sharp.

The Heart of Oklahoma Kiwanis will hold a pancake breakfast in conjunction with 89ers Day in Lexington Saturday, April 19.

Tickets are $5 for the breakfast which will be  held from 7-11 a.m. at the McCown Park Pavilion in Lexington.

The first edition of Purcell’s 2025 Art Walk will be held Friday, April 25, so get ready for an evening of art, shopping and vintage treasures as Art Walk returns to Purcell with a vintage twist!

This month’s event will feature vintage and antique dealers lining the streets, food trucks, arts and crafts, homemade goods and more—all in a family-friendly atmosphere.

Make plans to attend.

The Purcell Municipal Hospital Foundation is sponsoring a golf tournament benefiting the foundation Saturday, April 26, at the Brent Bruehl Memorial Golf Course in Purcell.

Check-in for the tournament begins at 7 a.m. with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.

The cost for a four-person team is $500.

The Purcell Public Library will present the “Connection Corner: Sewing Club” Tuesday, April 22, from 1-2:30 p.m. in the meeting room of the library.

Make new friends while working on your sewing projects. Designed for adults 18+.

Join us as we come together to work on a personal sewing project and get to know people who share a similar interest. Discover new techniques and perspectives as we meet with others to learn about their experiences while sharing your own.

Please bring your personal project and any materials, such as machine and fabrics, notions, you need to help support your experience and comfort. Supplies will not be provided.

Registration is requested for the program.

The McClain County OSU Extension is collecting food donations on behalf of Delta Community Action of non-perishable good to  help those in need.

The food will be accepted through April 30.

Donations can be made at the McClain County OSU Extension office, Pioneer Public Library in Purcell, Blanchard and Newcastle, Farmer’s Coop in Wayne, Crossroads Feed, Seed and Farm Store and McClain Bank in Purcell.

Purcell City Hall will be closed from 1-2 p.m. the first Wednesday of every month for training.

The offices will be closed Wednesday, May 7.

Here are two good recipes to go with your Easter dinner, one cold and one hot

Cooper Pennies

2 lbs. carrots, peeled, sliced and cooked until barely tender, drain

1 small green pepper, thinly sliced

1 medium onion, thinly sliced

Dressing

10.5 oz. can tomato soup

1/2 cup oil

3/4 cup cider vinegar

1 cup sugar

1 tsp. prepared mustard (powder)

1 tsp. Worcestershire Sauce

1 tsp. salt

1/2 tsp. pepper

Blend all the dressing ingredients together and pour over cooked carrots. Let marinate.

Put in refrigerator with cover and turn over after about two days and then again.

Slow Cooker Carrots

2 lbs. carrots

4 tablespoons butter

1/2 cup brown sugar

Put the carrots in the bottom of a slow cooker and put the butter in pats on the carrots and sprinkle the brown sugar on top. Don’t stir!

Cook on high for 2 hours and then stir.

Cook for 2 more hours stirring every 30 minutes or so.
