A long weekend looms for many area residents as the nation prepares to celebrate Labor Day and the unofficial end of summer on Monday.
The Purcell Register is among many businesses closed that day.
All area schools will take the day off, as will state and federal offices.
There will be no mail delivery on Monday and the Post Office will be closed.
The McClain County Courthouse will be closed, along with city offices in Purcell, Lexington, Washington, Wayne and Goldsby.
The holiday weekend will begin at noon Friday and continue through Monday for Wayne’s municipal employees.
Purcell Public Library will be closed Sunday and Monday.
Other Monday closings include First United Bank and McClain Bank.
