One person was air-lifted and another transported by ambulance, both to the OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, following a three-vehicle accident on 180th Monday evening.

Investigating OHP Trooper Jarrod Terry reported the Purcell Fire Department used the Hurst Tool to free trapped people in vehicles about a mile west of Purcell.

Two vehicles crashed head-on on 180th .1 of a mile west of Johnson Road. One of those drivers, Gene M. Blevins, 45, of Seminole was air-lifted to OU Medical where he was admitted in critical condition with head, trunk internal, external and leg injuries.

He was eastbound on 180th in a 2002 GMC Yukon. A 2013 Nissan Rogue, driven by Kendrick J. Johnson, 22, of Lindsay and a 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe, driven by a 17-year-old female from Lexington were both westbound on 180th.

Terry reported Blevins passed out due to medical reasons causing the vehicle to go left of center striking the Nissan in the rear driver’s quarter panel.

Terry said the Nissan came to a controlled stop on the right shoulder. The Yukon then struck the Hyundai head-on where both vehicles came to rest. Both of those drivers were pinned in their vehicles for approximately 45 minutes until being freed by the Jaws of Life by the Purcell Fire Department.

The Lexington juvenile, reported to be Alie Holler a junior at Lexington High school,  was transported by Wadley’s EMS to OU Medical where she was admitted in critical but stable condition with leg and head injuries.

Johnson and his three passengers, Jewell R. Johnson, 23, of Lindsay, a five-year-old and a one-year-old were all transported to Purcell Municipal Hospital where they were treated and released.

Also assisting at the scene were the McClain County Sheriff’s Department and Purcell Police.
