The City of Purcell is continuing to wait on an insurance claim put into OMAG for assistance in repairing damage to the basketball courts and fencing at McCurdy Park.

A midnight accident that resulted in a driving under the influence charge occurred April 1.

Interim City Manager Bobby Elmore said the city filed a claim with the insurance company but has not heard back.

The traffic accident that started with a chase by Noble Police and later Cleveland County Sheriff’s Deputies ended in a crash at McCurdy Park just before midnight that spring night.

Authorities reported the driver of the vehicle, Josie Dorman, faced multiple charges from eluding to DUI, transporting an open container and no valid driver’s license.

Purcell Police used stop sticks to puncture the vehicle’s tires on the Purcell side of the James C. Nance Memorial Bridge. The vehicle ended up crashing through the fence at McCurdy Park that surround the basketball courts.

Now the waiting game continues.
