Greg Collins, age 62, of Lexington, passed away Monday, August 16, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Gregory Alan Collins was born December 17, 1958 in Colorado Springs, Colo. He is the older of two children born to A.J. and Rena Collins.

He was raised in Midwest City, where he attended school, graduating with the class of 1977. Greg attended the University of Oklahoma, and a few years later started working for Southwest Medical Center in the I.T. department. There, he met a young pharmacist named Cindy Anne Wilhite, and on August 20, 1993, they eloped to Eureka Springs, Arkansas.

They lived in Midwest City for a time before moving to Austin with their son, Brin. By 1998, they settled in Purcell where they raised their children, Brin and Carly.

At the time Greg was working at Tinker Air Force Base, and later started working I.T. for the City of Purcell. Greg truly enjoyed the beauty of nature and being outdoors. He looked forward to camping, fishing, and visiting the ocean. He loved watching old westerns, especially John Wayne.

Greg cherished Cindy and his kids. He will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by: his mother, Rena Harris.

Greg is survived by: his wife, Cindy of the home; son Brin Collins and his wife Martha of Fort Worth and daughter, Carly Collins of Oklahoma City; Father, A.J. Collins and wife Marie of Bradenton, FL; His sister, Sherrie Margiotta and husband Chris of Austin, TX, and a host of other family and friends.

A celebration of Greg’s life is scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Thursday, August 19, 2021, at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials be made to the Stephenson Cancer Center @ giving.oufoundation.org
