At least 60 people attended the annual Memorial Day Service at Hillside Cemetery Monday morning.
Spearheaded by Jay Tate, the ceremony featured a key note speech by Navy Veteran Jeff Page, Taps by Carlie Bridgers, a reading of “Flanders Field” by Carmella Tate and a 21 gun salute by Sheriff Deputy Justin Rowe and Purcell Policemen Brayden Gulliver, Kyle Mobley, Jeremy Pittman and Daniel Fumi.
Tate played the Armed Forced Medley and had veterans from each branch stand as their song was being played.
Purcell Pastor Justin Blankenship gave the invocation and closing prayer.
American flags were placed at each veteran’s grave as a tribute to their service.
