Goldsby rationing water

Usage based on odd and even property addresses

Posted

Due to the amount of water being consumed in the Town of Goldsby, officials there have implemented a voluntary water rationing plan.

“We are actually limited on our water lines,” Mayor Glenn Berglan told The Purcell Register Tuesday. “People are using so much and owe can only pump so much through the lines without bursting them.

“We are going to be buying Oklahoma City water through Newcastle next year to take care of the problem,” the Mayor said.

High temperatures and dry conditions are causing residents to use an extraordinary amount of water.

Town officials are calling upon all customers and users of the municipal water system to reduce water usage by following sound conservation measures and practices.

Addresses ending in an even number may use water on even numbered days from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Addresses ending in odd numbers may use water during the same time periods on odd numbered days.

In a legal notice printed in this week’s edition of The Purcell Register the notice says that each violation of Goldsby’s Water Shortage ordinance is an offense punishable by fine as set forth in the Water Shortages ordinance.
