A trio of big fund-raising events were huge successes this past week in Purcell.
First last Wednesday noon at Trinity United Methodist Church the annual Rotary Chili luncheon was a hot ticket.
A huge crowd packed into Trinity’s Fellowship Hall to partake of the tasty chili cooked up by Rotarian Cody Barton.
The hefty numbers that actually sat down to eat were very nearly matched by the number of take out orders that were filled.
Couple the chili sales with the silent auction, and the club raised around $6,000 for scholarships to local area students going to college.

Another successful event was held Saturday night at the Grand Canadian Theater where around 170 people attended the Purcell Municipal Hospital Foundation’s fund-raiser.
After expenses are met, the foundation had a good outing, raising money to pay for new equipment for the hospital and other needed projects.
The Gala itself grossed over $47,000.

At last count, the Purcell Public School Foundation raised over $3,000 for teacher grants in their 50-50 ticket drawing that was held Tuesday night during the Purcell-Pauls Valley basketball games. The gross total raised was $7,500.
Altogether the three fund-raisers grossed nearly $61,000.

All that is on top of what is normally raised for 4-H and FFA students at the Purcell Bonus Auction.
That event, scheduled this year for February 19, normally grosses north of $30,000 in donations.
It’s a tribute to residents of this area for their generosity.
