Fraudulent transaction

Posted

A 69-year-old Moore man with three aliases is charged in McClain County District Court with using a fraudulent $5,100 cashier’s check to buy a 2001 Harley Davidson motorcycle from a Blanchard man.

An arrest warrant for Larry P. Self is outstanding

Self is also known as Daniel K. Self, Lawrence S. Vines and Rocky Pearson.

According to an affidavit, the motorcycle’s owner, Kevin Bobbitt, reported to Blanchard police in April that his motorcycle had been stolen.

Bobbitt told an officer he agreed to sell the motorcycle on March 28 to a man he identified as Pearson. However when he arrived at MotoCycle Station in Blanchard to complete the transaction, he was met by a man calling himself Robert Smith.

According to the affidavit, Bobbitt described Smith as in his 60s, crippled and using a cane. Smith gave Bobbitt a $5,100 cashier’s check drawn on Bank of Oklahoma in Tulsa. Bobbitt let Smith and a companion take the motorcycle and said he would mail the title in a couple of days.

On April 2, Bobbitt’s bank notified him the check was fraudulent. Bobbitt contacted the post office and was able to get the title back.

Bobbitt drove to the Moore address where he’d been asked to mail the title and found the vehicle.
