Flood gates open for Lexington

It finally happened for the Lexington Bulldogs and in run-rule fashion Monday when they mangled Little Axe 20-5 on 11 hits, while pitcher Wyatt Webb only allowed five Indian hits.

Carter Moore went 2-3 including a double and knocked in a trio of base runners. Zeke Faulkenberry had a three run triple in the game and coach Jarod Ennis got two hits each from Braydon Loyd and Gus Turnpaugh.

Loyd was 2-2 with an RBI and Turnpaugh was 2-3 with an RBI

Ezra Faulkenberry had an RBI in a 1-4 outing at the plate. Drew Dierking was also 1-4, scoring three times. Skylar Rollins tripled in the contest and scored three times. Ty Mixon had a hit in three trips to the plate.

The Bulldogs scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the first and added two more in their half of the third inning.

But it was the bottom of the fourth when the flood gates opened with the Indians needing to call the fire department to get the Bulldogs out.

When the dust had settled, Lexington had scored 16 runs giving them their first victory of the spring.

Newcastle Tournament

Dierking and Rollins were the only Lexington Bulldogs to get a hit in a 16-0 shutout loss to Destiny Christian in the Newcastle Tournament last week.

Lexington opened the tournament on Thursday sustaining an 11-0 loss at the hands of the host Racers.

Loyd got the only hit for the Bulldogs in the contest.

Lexington was scheduled to travel to Little Axe on Tuesday.

They are scheduled to play at Purcell at 2 p.m. Friday.

On the schedule for next Monday and Tuesday are away and home games with OCS.
