The Purcell Public Schools Board of Education voted to leave the board organization unchanged at their regular meeting Monday night.

Tracy Folsom will remain president and Kevin Andrews vice president.

Nicolle Carr will remain as clerk, while Holly Baker and Mary Webb are members.

Purcell freshman Madi Jarvis made a presentation to the board about Youth Action on Health Leadership (YAHL).

“It was a good presentation,” Purcell Superintendent Dr. Sheli McAdoo said.

The presentation was about health and wellness for Purcell students and recommendations were made on the wellness policy.

In other board action, they:

  • Named 20-year-veteran Purcell teacher, Amanda Fleming, the new Director of Special Services.

Fleming was a regular education classroom teacher for 16 years before moving to special education in 2020.

  • Heard a presentation by Amy Nemecek and Kim Thompson regarding the school’s Mentoring Monday Program.
  • Voted to purchase math textbooks, staff laptops and student Chromebooks.
  • Declined to make changes to the district’s transfer policy.
  • Approved temporary appropriations.
  • Voted to move child nutrition funds into the general fund. The move came at the recommendation of the district’s auditor.
  • Designated the district negotiating team.
  • Adopted a resolution to apply for an opioid abatement grant through Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond’s office.
  • Rehired all certified personnel.
  • Approved painting the hallways at Purcell High School.
