Final stretch of regular season

Davis next Monday, Purcell Tuesday

The Lady ‘Dawgs haven’t quite found their groove, dropping games with Tecumseh, 14-2, and North Rock Creek, 12-2, on Monday.

They also fell to Lindsay, 13-3, and Washington 21-6, in the Washington tournament last week.

Monday’s games were tough draws as both Tecumseh and North Rock Creek are ranked in the top three in class 5A.

Izzy Pack was a bright spot, as she parked one in the Tecumseh game. Lexington scored their two runs in the first inning.

Abby Turnpaugh, Baylee Rillema and Pack each had a hit in the loss.

In the loss to North Rock Creek, Lexington’s lack of  timely hits were once again their Achilles heel.

Leslie Barber, Madilyn Dunn, Abby Sample, Abi Clifton, Turnpaugh and Pack each had a hit.

Turnpaugh and Pack scored their two runs.

“We had some decent hits, but they were singles and we left our runners stranded,” head coach Steve Blair said.

Last week’s wind played havoc on Lex’s games during the Washington tournament.

The Warriors’ bats were hot, as they had several homeruns.

Coach Blair was pleased with the Lady Dawgs’ scoring output.

“The kids came out with a lot of energy. We scored six runs, which I’m proud of, but they just overpowered us.”

Tuesday night was senior night when the Lady ‘Dawgs hosted Dibble.

They were then scheduled to be in Plainview on Thursday. Blair and his team decided to cancel their trip to Dale for Friday.

Rounding out their remaining regular season schedule, Lexington hosts Davis on Monday and goes to Purcell on Tuesday.

District pairings were released and the Lady Bulldogs will be in Colera with Holdenville. They play the Lady Wolverines at 1 p.m. on Thursday April 21. The loser of game one will go on to face host Colera.
