Two veteran Goldsby Firefighters were tragically killed early Friday morning on their way to a call.
According to the Goldsby Facebook page, “the volunteer firefighters died in the line of duty in a motor vehicle accident while responding to a structure fire. The firefighters are identified as 12-year veteran firefighter Todd Pendleton, 62, and 35-year veteran firefighter Bryan Jenkins, 64.
“These firefighters have spent their lives in the service of their community. They served along side their family, friends and neighbors. We in the Town of Goldsby mourn their loss and honor their memory.
“Both firefighters will be escorted through Goldsby to Purcell along SH 74 after 1 p.m. We encourage the community to turn out to honor these fallen firefighters.”
Authorities said they were in a tanker truck carrying 3,000 gallons of water when the vehicle went off the southside of the roadway.
The driver corrected causing the load to shift and turning the tanker over before it struck a tree. They were eastbound on Redbud Avenue & Southeast 12th Avenue at the time of the accident.
