Evelyn Kay Carter of Purcell was born on July 5, 1953 in Oklahoma City to Charlie W. and Ava Lee (Brown) Dunn. She passed away on Friday, November 26, 2021 in her home at the age of 68 years.

Evelyn grew up in Oklahoma City where she attended school at Capitol Hill. She married Jimmy Ray Carter on October 30, 1970 in Gainesville, Texas. They made their home in Tupelo, Oklahoma, before moving to Purcell.

Evelyn was a devoted wife and mother who loved her family. She loved cooking for her family and having them all together. She enjoyed garage sales, traveling, flowers, gardening, and taking road trips. Evelyn was a member of the Jesus Alive Church. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include her sons, David Carter and wife, Tammy, of Purcell and Danny Carter and wife, Christie, of Norman; sister, Rosalee Oliver of Slaughterville; brothers, Charles Dunn and wife, Janell, of Purcell, Jimmy Dunn and wife, Regina, of Purcell and Kenny Dunn and wife, Trish, of Purcell; grandchildren, Megan Moore, Shaun Carter, Hanna Carter, Taylor Carter and Justin Carter.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jimmy Ray Carter; brother, Douglas Dunn; and sisters, Charlene Salazar and Joann Shaw.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Winans Funeral Home Chapel, Maysville with Bro. Chillis Hutchinson officiating. Burial was in the Green Hill Cemetery, Lindsay, Okla., under the direction of John W.
