Elmer Stanford Davis died January 7, 2022 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 86 years 7 months 30 days. Funeral services were held Monday, January 10, 2022 at the Iron Chapel Freewill Baptist Church in Dibble. Interment followed at the Washington Cemetery, entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service. Online condolences may be made and service live streamed at www.wadleysfuneralservice.com.

Elmer was born May 8, 1935 in Brinkman, Oklahoma, to Willis Marona and Willie Faye (Grubb) Davis. He was raised and attended school in Lexington, Oklahoma.

On March 19, 1954, he and Naomi Nunnally were united in marriage in Washington, Oklahoma. Elmer loved all sports, and enjoyed coaching his son’s baseball teams as well as women’s softball.

Elmer’s work history included being a milkman, a breadman, managing filling stations and reading water meters.Afterwards, he spent 25 years driving a bus for Washington Public Schools. Once retired Elmer transported his senior citizen friends to doctor’s appointments,  and always made sure they had lunch.

Elmer’s hobbies were playing cards, dominoes, bowling, watching the Washington Warriors, OU Sooners, Dallas Cowboys and the Oklahoma Thunder. His favorite past time recently was watching the game show network. Elmer was a member of the Iron Chapel Freewill Baptist Church for many years where he led worship.

Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, Willis and Willie Davis; his wife, Naomi Davis; his daughter, Cynthia Murdock; and his nine siblings.

Survivors include his son, Kelly Davis and wife, Virginia, of Gallatin, Tenn.; his son, David Davis and wife, Anita, of Washington, Okla.; his daughter, Charlotte Singletary and husband, Larry, of Broken Arrow, Okla.; eight grandchildren,  Jerry Davis and wife, Brandi, Kala Webb and husband, Mike, Whitney Beller and husband, Darrin, David Davis, Jr., Gary Davis and wife, Krista, Brandy Miller and husband Rob, Lara Houck and husband, Zane, and Morgan Murdock and husband, Glenn; 17 great-grandchildren, Tyler, Audri, Asher, Silas, Pazie, Blayden, Landon, Logan, Chandler, Emma, Addie, Sadie, Tyler, Bowen, Blaze, Baker and Mara; thee great-great-grandchildren, Blayden, Keegan and Ren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
