Washington’s School District welcomes eight new teachers to the Warrior family for 2026-27, including Becca Capps, Jada Driskell, Colby Shamely, Megan Ball, Brooklynn Harvey, Amber Rimer, Kayla Warren and Alyssa Johnson.
Capps will be the Special Education Director.
She and her husband, Dalton Capps, have a two-year-old and are expecting their second child in November.
She is a graduate of Oklahoma Christian Academy and the University of Central Oklahoma.
She has taught special education for grades K-5th and has been in administration for the last six years.
“My family has recently moved to Washington,” Mrs. Capps said. “As our family grows, it has been a dream to work in the district my children will attend. I am looking forward to serving this community. It is truly a special place.”
Driskell is about to embark on her first teaching experience.
She will teach middle school and high school choir.
A graduate of Enid High School and Southern Nazarene University, Jada is married to her husband, Jaylen.
“Choir shaped me as a young musician,” Mrs. Driskell said. “I am so excited to help shape other young musicians’ lives. Music is a language everyone can understand.
“I currently teach voice, piano and flute at the Norman Music Institute,” she concluded.
Shamley and his wife, Joni, have two children.
He is a graduate of Pauls Valley High School and East Central University.
Previously Shamley taught at Marlow.
He chose to move to Washington, “for a better opportunity for my family,” Shamley said.
Ball and her husband of 15 years, Marcus, have two children.
She will teach secondary special education and math.
She is a graduate of Washington High School and the University of Oklahoma, who has taught special education, math and library media in the past.
“I grew up in this community and am excited to be able to teach in it,” Mrs. Ball said.
Harvey is married to Brandon Harvey.
She will teach third grade and is in her first year as a teacher.
Mrs. Harvey is a graduate of Poteau High School and Oklahoma State University.
“Everyone at Washington has been so kind and welcoming,” she said. “I am excited for this school year and I can’t wait to meet my students.”
Rimer and her husband, Chris, have three children.
A graduate of Alex High School and Cameron University, Rimer has previously taught first grade in Dibble.
“I absolutely love Washington,” she said. “It is so warm and inviting and I am happy to be a part of it.
“I am so excited to meet the new students and families in this wonderful community,” she concluded.
Warren and her husband, Kent, have two children.
A graduate of Washington High School and the University of Oklahoma, Mrs. Warren will teach fifth grade reading.
She previously taught third grade at Deer Creek Public Schools.
“I’m so excited to be back in the community that has poured so much into me. Go Warriors,” she concluded.
Johnson, who will teach second grade, and her huband, Matt, have two sons.
A Woodward High School and UCO graduate, Johnson previously taught in the Norman Public School District for 11 years.
“I’ve heard nothing but good things about Washington Public Schools and I wanted my two boys to experience it,” Mrs. Johnson said.
“I am beyond excited to be a Washington Warrior,” she concluded.
