Sandwiched in between losses to Byng and Tuttle, Purcell’s Dragons neatly defeated Perry, Harrah, Lawton and Norman taking a 4-2 record into a home game Tuesday with visiting Cushing.
The Dragons out-hit Harrah 10-9, posting a 7-4 decision.
They run-ruled Perry, 11-1, Lawton 13-0 and Norman 14-5.
Senior hurler Ava Sparks limited the Maroons to a measly two hits and fanned five in five innings of work.
Freshman Taryn Knowles swung a hot stick going 3-4 at the plate while sophomore Kyndall Williams and freshman Kyleigh Reinhold both had hits in the contest.
Lawton committed four errors and the Dragons took full advantage exploding for seven runs in the first frame and adding another half dozen in the second inning.
Junior Miaca Martinez led the offense with two RBIs, going 1-for-1, while junior Kendra Anderson, freshman Gracie Powell, freshman Lauren Black, freshman Spencer Stone, freshman Teagan Hernandez, Reinhold and Martinez each finished with a hit.
Anderson tossed the shutout in the circle, striking out seven Wolverines.
In the victory over the Tigers, Purcell again shot out of the gate like a speeding bullet, pushing across four big runs in the first inning, backing that up with three more in the second.
Knowles crushed a dinger over the center field fence while Reinhold went 2-4 that included a triple and knocked in three base runners.
Knowles and sophomore Jacyee Holman both finished with a pair of hits.
Sparks shined again in the circle striking out a trio of Tigers in five innings.
Purcell out-hit the host Tigers 11-6.
After Tuesday’s home encounter with Cushing, the Dragons will play co-hosts to the HOOT tournament Thursday through Saturday with Washington. (See complete story page 1B)
Newcastle is on the schedule for next Monday followed by Perkins on Tuesday with both games at Purcell.
A road trip to Harrah awaits Purcell next Thursday, August 27.
