Funeral services for Donnie Gale Carr, 83, of Purcell will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 2026 at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell under the direction of the Wilson-Little Funeral Home of Purcell.
Mr. Carr passed away May 10, 2026 in Lexington, Okla., surrounded by family.
Donnie was born July 25, 1942, in Criner, Okla., to Zoolo and Myrtle Carr.
He enjoyed his early childhood on a farm there before moving with his family to Purcell in 1948, where he later finished school. After school, Donnie began a long career in the oil field, working as a roughneck, driller, pipeliner, and assistant foreman before leaving the industry after a major injury.
Though unable to continue the work he loved, he remained devoted to his family. Donnie took pride in giving his grandchildren the same simple upbringing and values he was raised with. He loved spending time outdoors, gardening, reading history books, and teaching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren about life. Resourceful and hardworking, he always made sure the kids had a garden and tire swing to play on no matter where they lived.
He was a loyal and beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle who will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Zoolo and Myrtle Carr; his son, Quanah Carr; and his siblings, Gorsie Carr, Hershel Carr, Marvin Carr, Garten “Red” Carr, Anna Mae Carr, Burl Carr, Zoolo Carr Jr., Essie Carr Ward, Towanna Carr Farrh, Viola Carr Willoughby, Joyce Carr Yandell and his twin brother, Ronnie Carr.
Donnie is survived by his wife, Kathleen Carr, of the home; his daughter, LaDonna Carr of Purcell; his grandchildren, Anna Reynolds, Katy Reynolds and Ethan Reynolds; and his great-grandchildren, Zachary Williams, Paige Williams and Nicholas Kessler.
