Monday night, Lexington fell behind late in the game to drop a 10-5 decision with the Dragons.

Purcell held a 4-0 lead through four full innings. But, the Bulldogs chipped away, plating two runs in the bottom of the fifth and two more in the bottom of the sixth to tie it up.

Drew Dierking reached base, Ezra Faulkenberry singled and Ty Mixon had a two RBI base hit to tie the game.

But, in the top of the seventh, Purcell got some timely hits to score six runs and win the game.

“I thought we had a chance to roll over and die but the guys battled and we played with more effort and energy than we’ve had all year,” head coach Ryan Blaine said.

Zeke Faulkenberry led his team at the plate, going 3-4 with three hits and an RBI.

Lexington had eight hits in the loss. Mixon, Ezra, Corbin Perry and Dax Beason all had one hit apiece.

Saturday afternoon, Lexington dropped a game with CCS, 5-1.

“We put ourselves in a hole early and couldn’t get a two-out hit. It wasn’t our day. Not our best performance,” Blaine said.

The Bulldogs had four hits in the loss. Beason had two while Dierking and Colby Haynes each had one.

Blaine said 11 base runners were left stranded.

The Bulldogs were scheduled to be in Purcell on Tuesday night.

They will be in the Dibble tournament starting today (Thursday). They play host Dibble at 8 p.m.
