McClain County Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to an address in rural McClain County regarding a welfare check this past Monday, April 13.
A family member had found one person deceased, prompting the call to law enforcement to the residence on SH-74 south of Purcell.
The McClain County Sheriff’s Public Information Officer Cary Bryant said the deceased male is James Booker, 73, while the deceased female is his wife, Katherine Geren, 69.
Authorities said Booker shot Geren and then took his own life.
Deputies, along with Purcell Police Department, arrived and found the pair deceased.
After a sweep of the house, it was determined no one else was in the house.
At this time, authorities are not searching for any suspects.
The OSBI Crime Scene Unit arrived to provide support. The official cause and manner of death is still to be confirmed by the Oklahoma Medical Examiner’s office
The incident remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office.
