Lexington’s Bulldogs opened the Heart of Oklahoma Tournament with a 10-9 victory over Asher last Thursday.

Zeke Faulkenberry smashed the game-winning hit in the walk off victory.

He finished the game going 2-3 with the RBI triple.

Drew Dierking, who was credited with the pitching victory was 3-5 that included a double and an RBI.

Dierking struck out five in the 3 2/3 innings he worked on the bump while getting touched for five hits. Ty Mixon tossed the final 3 1/3 innings.

Skylar Rollins, Ty Mixon and Corbin Perry all went 2-4 and all had an RBI in the contest.

“Offensively we put up good numbers which was a nice change from the last couple of games,” head coach Jarod Ennis said. “We got in a dog fight at the end and ended up walking it off.”

In the semifinals, Purcell dealt the ‘Dawgs an 8-0 set back.

Tanner Brock took the pitching loss striking out three in 4 1/3 innings on the mound. Logan Carroll pitched in relief for a third of an inning.

Dierking, Perry, Ezra and Zeke Faulkenberry were all 1-2 in the game.

Lexington finished the tournament on Saturday with a 6-2 loss at the hands of the Ada Cougars.

Mixon went 1-3 and Ezra 1-2 to lead the offense.

Jacob Turnpaugh went three innings on the mound striking out three and giving up five hits. Peyton Arnold worked the final three innings.

“We played pretty well against Ada,” Ennis said. “We hit the ball hard, it just seemed to be right at someone every time.”

Zeke Faulkenberry was named to the All Tournament team.

Lexington hosted Holdenville on Monday and came up on the short end of a 5-1 contest.

Turnpaugh was 3-3 in the game.

Both teams scored a run in their half of the first but a three spot by the Wolverines in the top of the sixth proved to be the dagger.

Lexington was set to travel to Holdenville on Tuesday.

The Bulldogs were scheduled to host the Oklahoma City Knights today (Thursday) and travel to Bridge Creek on Friday.

A home game with Lindsay was on the schedule for April 25.
