Creston Barnes

Creston Barnes, 50, of Paoli, Oklahoma passed away Friday, February 19, 2021 at his father and mother’s home in Durant, Oklahoma.

He was born on May 1, 1970 in Aza-Kuwae, Chatan-son, Okinawa, Japan to Al Creston Barnes and Patricia Alice Mink Barnes. Creston was raised in Sulphur where he graduated high school in 1989. In 1991, he completed Diesel Mechanics at Canadian Valley Technology Center in El Reno, Oklahoma. He owned and operated Barnes Trucking and Construction and was primary operator of BBB Cattle along with his father and grandfather.

Creston was an excellent equipment operator, welder and fabricator. He enjoyed building steel buildings, farming and cattle ranching in Murray and Garvin Counties, which was his true enjoyment. He was a man of few words and when he spoke it was wise to listen. Creston was dedicated to his employees and associates and was always willing to help a friend and would make personal and financial sacrifice to help someone in need.          

He is survived by his partner, Diana Cannon of Paoli, Oklahoma; parents, Al and Patricia Barnes of Durant, Oklahoma; sister, Sheli Stovall and husband, Shane, of Kingston, Oklahoma; niece, Dylan Stovall; nephew, Tyler Stovall and partner, Lexi Damron; great nephew, Kole Stovall; grandparents, Doyle and Mildred Mink of Kingston, Oklahoma, along with several beloved aunts and cousins. 

Creston was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Leo E. Barnes and Geneva Barnes.

Celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 27, 2021 at the Calvary Baptist Church, 1000 W. 12th St, Sulphur, OK 73086. James Swain will officiate the service. Services will be under the direction of Watts Funeral Home, Madill, Oklahoma.
