The entry deadline for next month’s McClain County Fair is August 29.
According to the fair premium list, all entries must be pre-registered online at https://mcclain.fairwire.com.
The entry books opened July 15.
Exhibitors are reminded to enter only those items they will be bringing to the fair as the fair pays a fee for each online entry.
OHCE and Open Class building exhibits are due at the fairgrounds from 2 to 7 p.m. September 6, while 4H building exhibits are due that day between 5 and 7 p.m.
On September 7, baked goods and fresh flowers will be accepted from 8 to 9 a.m. and building exhibits will be judged starting at 10 a.m.
Between 9 a.m. and noon September 8, entries are due for the pie, cake and salsa contests. The Heart of Oklahoma Kiwanis and McClain Bank will serve the bean supper and ice cream social starting at 5:30 p.m. and entries in the pie, cake and salsa contests will be auctioned at 6 p.m.
Several special contests are scheduled throughout the day, including horse and livestock judging contests are 8:30 a.m., tractor driving and youth cornhole contests at 10:30 a.m., stick horse rodeo at 4:30 p.m. and kiddie tractor pull at 5 p.m.
September 9 is School Children’s Day from 9 a.m. until noon. The horse show will also start at 9 a.m.
On September 10, swine will show at 8 a.m., followed by poultry and sheep at 9 a.m. and rabbits and market goats at 10 a.m. Cattle classes will begin at noon.
Highlighting the day will be two new attractions – a car show from 10 a.m. to 2 p .m. and the Bison Hill Chuckwagon Catering crew cooking and serving samples from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The popular Dutch Oven Cooking Contest is back this year from 9 a.m. until noon.
