New Purcell Public Works Authority assistant director, Marcos Castillo, was introduced Monday night to the city council during its regular April meeting.
He takes the place of Trey Phillips, who moved on to a different position.
Castillo has experience, having worked at Amarillo and Chickasha in similar positions.
In his remarks to the board, Interim City Manager Bobby Elmore informed the five city leaders of upcoming dates to remember including the next bike race June 7, animal donation day May 2 and shred day April 25 from 9-12. Both the animal donations and shred day will be at the police station parking lot.
Elmore also told the council the city is taking bids to refurbish the softball field just across the street from the golf course.
“We are going to make it a ball field,” Elmore confirmed.
The council approved a recommendation by the Planning Commission to approve a Planned Unit Development (PUD) to rezone the old PMH property so Domino’s can build their convenience store at that site.
The council approved a contract with Karsten Group, L.L.C. for full service Human Resources including recruiting and administrative services. The three-year contract has an annual cost of $133,509.60.
Board members also approved the purchase of a 2014 International 7400 6x6 3,000 gallon tanker truck for the Rural Fire protection at a cost of $199,500 and a contract with Allen/Mills/Lind/Simpson for legal services. That came at a cost of $3,000 per month up to 15 hours and $200 per hour thereafter.
Council members also approved the sale of surplus property from computers to a 725D Grasshopper mower and other heavy equipment.
In the PPWA portion of the meeting the board approved services and supplies from Hoffman Water Wells LLC to shore up Well No. 8 that has not been pumping up to expectations.
