Cole: Leave clocks alone

Posted

Late last week Congressman Tom Cole was in town to visit with constituents and take a tour of the new hospital along with members of the Purcell City Council.

Cole and a few of his staff including Amber Savage, who is a mainstay at Purcell functions, were given the cook’s tour by the president of the Miller Architecture firm, Jason Givens, who designed the facility.

Also in the tour group was Bridget Cosby, the small town liaison from SSN and Max Waldrop, the owner of the construction firm tasked with the erection of the new state-of-the art medical facility.

Representing the city council were Theda Engert, Mayor Ted Cox, Jay Tate and Allen Eubanks. Also getting the inside look at the new facility were city attorney Greg Dixon, city clerk Andie Millsap, PMH CEO/CNO Chris Wright and Lisa Allen.

During the walkthrough of the new facility, which by the way is much more spacious on the inside than the appearance from the outside, I had a chance to catch up with the congressman.

I asked him about the chances in the House of Representatives of the passage of staying with Daylight Savings Time as opposed to springing forward and falling back on a semi-annual basis.

With all the shenanigans that are going on around the globe, I'm sure that was probably the last question he figured would be thrown his way.

At first he laughed. Then he got serious.

“I think if it gets to the floor, it’ll pass. I think there are enough votes to pass it. I personally don't care if it stays with Daylight Savings Time or if is stays with sun time. I am just tired of going back and forth. I just hope whichever way it goes it is the time that is on my clock in my car because I don't know how to change it,” Cole laughed.

Hard to argue with that.
