Funeral services for Claudene Ewing, 88, of Wayne were held Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed at the Maysville Cemetery under the direction of the Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.

Mrs. Ewing passed away Saturday, August 27, 2022.

Doris Claudene McKee was born November 30, 1933 in Maysville, Okla., the youngest of three daughters born to B.A. McKee and Mary Elizabeth (Davis) McKee.

Like many in these days, her family followed work.  Claudene spent most of her childhood in California and San Angelo before returning to Wayne. She graduated with the Bulldog Class of 1952.

By chance, she met a young serviceman named J.T. Henson.  His sister introduced them while at a family function, and the rest as they say is history.  Claudene and J.T. were married on April 18, 1953. They eventually settled back in Wayne where together they raised five children, sons, Scott, Mike and Steve and daughters, Teresa and Tammy.

Claudene worked a variety of odd jobs throughout the years, mainly in retail. She greatly enjoyed her work with the Wayne Senior Citizens Center, and she served as Site Manager for more than 10 years.

When she wasn’t working, Claudene enjoyed sewing and painting, and she shared her many talents with family and friends.  She enjoyed tinkering in her garden, traveling, camping and later RV’ing. After J.T. passed, she found companionship with longtime friend Doug Ewing, and they were married on August 5, 1999.

Claudene cherished her family and she loved life. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be dearly missed!

She was preceded in death by her husbands, J.T. Henson and Doug Ewing; two great-grandchildren, Jonah Thomas Henson and Johnnie Lynn Henson; her parents, B.A. and Mary McKee; her sisters, Juanita Richmond and Inez Young and stepdaughter, Raelean Isbill.

Claudene is survived by three sons, Scott Henson and wife, D’Linda, of Kingston, Mike Henson and wife, Beth, of Purcell and Steve Henson and wife, Ann, of Ft. Worth, Texas; two daughters, Teresa Hackney and husband, Roger, of Purcell and Tammy Roberts of Maysville; stepchildren, Wanda Newkirk of Little Axe and Joyce Mooi of Wayne; nine grandchildren,  Jeni Willoughby and husband, Chris, Jason Henson and wife, Ally, Matthew Henson and wife, Jessica, Rachel Dugas and husband, Jean, Chelsey Henson, Shannon Waltz and husband, Barret, Brandon Hackney and wife, Kylee, Derick Boatright and Dillon Boatright and wife, Cheyanne; 13 great-grandchildren, Brea, Shae and Finli Willoughby, Avery, Anchor and Adley Henson, Elise and Ava Dugas, Lydia Hackney, Brock and Emily Boatright, Alayna Boatright and coming soon, Lizzy Raye Henson.
