City of Purcell residents will soon be able to make payments to the city without having to wait in line.

At Monday night’s regular monthly meeting of the city council at the Community Room of the Purcell Police Service Building, board members voted to purchase a kiosk for utility payments. The kiosk will be located at City Hall. The council will also consider it for payments of traffic fines and other items.

Lori Cox was reappointed to the Library Advisory Board and the council approved a resolution to update open records fees according to updated statutes.

Parks & Recreation Board Chairman Adam Demorest recognized Scott McCown, Joel Farrow and Randy Colburn for their construction of the bike trails at the city lake.

The council approved a resolution between the city, McClain County 911 and McClain County for dispatch services and were told about a possible TSET grant that can be used for repairs of the Red Hill stairs.

In the city manager report, interim city manager Bobby Elmore said there will be a special meeting January 12 at 6 p.m. concerning the North Green Avenue crossing near the schools.

The budget process for the coming fiscal year is already underway and Elmore said the turnout was great for the November 25 Walk the Lights.

“We would like to thank everyone that came out to the walk through for the first time,” Elmore reported. “We anticipate this to be an annual event that will grow each year.

“We do have some nights that will include different things this year like a mountain bike ride that Clent Kennedy has scheduled.”

City crews are in the process of finishing the decorations downtown and will bring a tree this week in preparation of the Christmas Parade December 11.

The city is working to nail down dates for a bike race that will take place this summer at the lake.

“The trails are starting to get more traction each month as they get more use,” he said.

A paving project in the Arbors is almost completed. The city is looking into replacing some tin horns on North 9th to accommodate the water runoff from the cliffs and the new part of the Arbors.

City officials confirmed these will be engineered projects and are being added into the budget plans and the five year plan.

Council members were given an update on the I-35 interchange project. The city is almost completely finished with their part of the project so that work orders can begin to be issued by the state. Officials predict by March, when all the paperwork is complete, work will begin.

The council was informed all the water wells are up and running. There are two pumps currently down on the sewer side. One is out for repair and the other one will have to be replaced at a cost of about $30,000.
