Cilee Turner State Runner-up

Posted

Four Bulldogs wrestled in the 2022 Oklahoma State Wrestling Tournament led by Cilee Turner, who finished as a State Runner-up at 185 pounds.

Turner pinned her way to the finals and faced off against Hayden of Tulsa Union. Turner made history for Lexington by being the first girl to place at State.

Izzy Pack competed for the Bulldogs in the 152 pound girls bracket.

Pack lost her first match.

“She was working a cradle and her opponent slipped out and caught Pack on her back,” head coach Jared Garett said. “She went on to pin her next opponent and then lost in the consolation semifinals.

“It was a tough tournament for Izzy,” Garrett said. “Wrestling is a sport that one mistake can cost you the match. She is a good wrestler and I hope she learns and becomes even better for next year.”

Garrett said Cash Sessions wrestled the best he has wrestled all year but came up short.

Tristan Buchanan did not make it past the pigtail round.

“He is a freshman,” Garrett said. “I think the nerves of high school State got to him a little. He is such a good wrestler and that match was not his best.”

All the Bulldog wrestlers are underclassmen.

“That means they have another shot at the gold,” Garrett said. “If they continue to work hard they will make it happen, I am so proud of these kids and their accomplishments.”
