A two-year-old Oklahoma City toddler was killed and six other people were injured in a traffic accident at mile marker 86 last Thursday afternoon just after six p.m. four miles west of Wayne.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said the driver of the 2003 Ford Expedition, Felipe Munoz, 64, of Oklahoma City was wearing a seat belt. He was treated and released from OU Medical Center.
One of the five juveniles in the vehicle was in a child restraint device. That three-year-old was treated and released at OU Children’s Hospital.
A two-year-old was ejected 109 feet and was pronounced deceased by medical personnel after being transported by Mediflight to OU Medical Center.
A front seat passenger, Maria Ramirez, 55, of Oklahoma City was transported by Wadley’s EMS to OU Medical where she was admitted in critical condition with trunk internal and external injuries. She was not wearing a seat belt, OHP reported.
A six year old juvenile was admitted to OU Children’s Hospital after being transported by Wadley’s EMS. She was reported to be in fair condition with head injuries.
Two other juveniles, ages eight and nine were both transported to Children’s Hospital and were treated and released.
The OHP said the vehicle was southbound on I-35. The investigation is continuing with a second vehicle under investigation.
Trooper Walter and Shayne Ballard investigated. They were assisted by Lt. Rawls, Trooper Pletcher, the McClain County Sheriff’s Office, Purcell Police and Fire Departments, Pauls Valley EMS, Wayne Fire Department and Wadley’s EMS.
