A Mass of Christian Burial for Cheryl Strong, 66, of Purcell will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 7, 2024 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Purcell. Services will be under the direction of the Wilson-Little Funeral Home of Purcell.
Ms. Strong passed away Thursday, October 31, 2024 at Norman Regional Healthplex in Norman.
Cheryl Lynn Strong was born on May 22, 1958 in Memphis, Tenn., to Joaquin Ford and Regina (Veitenheimer) Hayes.
Raised in Purcell, she graduated with the Dragon’s Class of 1976. While in high school Cheryl worked for the Vet Clinic in Purcell and later the Animal Shelter in Norman. After high school, she attended Oklahoma City Community College, where she earned her degree in nursing.
Cheryl was a Registered Nurse at the Norman Veterans Center until she retired in 2018. In Cheryl’s free time, she enjoyed playing Candy Crush, spending time with her dog Izzy, and would never pass up the opportunity for a Sonic coke. Cheryl was strong willed and enjoyed life. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends! 
She is preceded in death by her fathers, Joaquin Ford and Gerald Hayes. 
Cheryl is survived by her mother, Regina Hayes of Purcell; brothers, Darrell Ford and his everything, Jeanie Potter, of Purcell, Gary Hayes and wife, Cindy, of Purcell, Mike Hayes of Okemah, Jerry Hayes and wife, Tina, of Purcell and Kevin Hayes and wife, Shay, of Oklahoma City; sister, Marcy Hayes of Bentonville, Arkansas; aunt, Paula Gerhard of Noble, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
