Charley Miles Reed, Jr. died February 18, 2022 in Wayne, Oklahoma, at the age of 72 years 5 months 2 days. Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Wadley’s Funeral Chapel. Interment followed at Lexington Cemetery, entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service. Online condolences may be made, and the service was livestreamed at www.wadleysfuneralservice.com.
Charley was born September 16, 1949 in Lindsay, Oklahoma, to Charley and Beulah (Shephard) Reed. He was raised in Lindsay, Westville and Bradley, graduating from Bradley in 1967.
On July 12, 1968, he married Helen Idlett in Lexington, Oklahoma. They had six children before they separated as friends in 1994. Charley enjoyed traveling, tinkering, and learning. He took many courses at the vo-tech.
Charley loved music, and playing the guitar, and often times could be seen playing at the Senior Citizens Center. He enjoyed wheeling and dealing, going to flea markets, and telling a good dad joke. Charley worked in the electronics field, putting in radio towers, and fixing, selling, and chatting on ham radios.
Charley was preceded in death by his father, Charley Reed; his mother, Beulah Shephard Reed Conley; his son, Scott Reed; his brother, Danny Reed; and his sister, Barbara Moshe.
Survivors include his daughter, Charlotte Hamm and husband, Woody, of Lexington; his daughter, Crystal Givens and husband, Curtis of Noble; his daughter, Jennifer West and husband, Chris, of Purcell; his son, Russell Reed and wife, Lanecia, of Lexington; his daughter, LaKrisha Northrup and husband, Reuben, of Colorado; his 16 grandchildren, Colbi, Kaleb, Taylor, Brian, Morgan, Dylan, Mason, Jasmine, Colter, Carter, Zeke, Xander, Molly, Quentin, Maggie and Avery; his two great-grandchildren, Hazel and Knightley; his sibilings, Pat Reed of Texas, Frances Lewis of Kingfisher and Beulah Smith of Kingfisher; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
