Graveside services for Carolyn Hyde, 86, were held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 3, 2025 at Sunset Memorial Park in Norman. Services will be under the direction of the Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.
The family greeted friends and relatives on Thursday, January 2, 2025 from 5-7 p.m. at Wilson-Little Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hyde passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 29, 2024.
Carolyn Ann Anderson was born September 6, 1938 in Davis, Oklahoma, to Marion and Laura (Miller) Anderson.
She graduated with the Davis Wolves Class of 1956. Carolyn married Don Shipley on September 10, 1960. Together, the couple raised four children and shared many memories together. The couple celebrated 35 years of marriage before the passing of Don on March 8, 1995.
Carolyn worked for Sulphur Banking until the children came along. Then she transitioned into a homemaker and caregiver for her children and husband. Later, Carolyn worked for the library, McClain Bank and then Walmart. While she was working as a door greeter at Walmart, she met her “knight in shining armor”, Curtis Hyde. He swept her off her feet with his compassion, concern and they way he cared for her. Curtis and Carolyn married on November 25, 2005 (Thanksgiving Day). The couple enjoyed each other’s company and traveling together making memories. They celebrated 19 years of marriage together.
Carolyn was an avid sports fan. Her favorite teams were the OU Sooners football and Thunder basketball. But watching grandkids and great-grands playing sports was what brought her the most joy.
She enjoyed “Glamping” with Curtis and traveling to their next adventure. Carolyn was a beloved wife, mother, sister, grandma, GiGi and friend. She will be greatly missed.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Laura Anderson; her husband, Don Shipley; her son-in-law, Rocky Beller; and her step-son, Ray Hyde, Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Curtis Hyde of the home; her son, Ronnie Shipley and wife, Shannan, of Newcastle; her daughters, Lisa Larman and husband, Billy, of Purcell, Kelly Lyles and husband, Perry, of Washington and Dawn Beller of Goldsby; her stepchildren, Frankie Hyde and wife, Barbara, of Washington and Melody Manning and husband, Randy, of Washington; her brother, Noble Anderson and wife, Pat, of Tolar, Texas; her sister, Marion Carr of Dallas, Texas; her 15 grandchildren; her 23 great-grandchildren and a host of friends.
