Car trouble a bummer

You know we’ve been in a deep freeze when everyone who walked in Wednesday made comments on how nice the weather is.

It was 45 degrees Fahrenheit with a wind chill of 40 but it felt like a heat wave compared to the single digits we had endured the previous few days and nights.

After the predicted mid-week rain, the temperatures are supposed to moderate and maybe even be above normal. That will be a welcome sight.

An early morning blowout on a company vehicle on the way to Lindsay to pick up part of this week’s newspaper turned what started out as a routine Tuesday morning upside down.

Car trouble is never a good thing.

They say it takes a village to raise a child.

Likewise, it takes a cast of a lot of characters to successfully put on a basketball tournament.

A tip of the hat to Purcell Athletic Director Ricky Hammer, Assistant A.D. Sarah Jones and all the crew who worked the scorers’ table, the public address and all those involved in the hospitality suite for the three-day run of the annual Heart of Oklahoma Basketball Tournament.

The tournament was successful and ran on time, which is a credit to officials and all the teams who participated.
