Burn ban in force in McClain, Cleveland Counties

Posted

Saying that recent rains are not enough to offset fire concerns, McClain and Cleveland County Commissioners both issued a 14-day burn ban at their meetings Tuesday, October 11.

The ban prohibits setting fire to forest, grass range, crop or other wildlands, campfire, bonfires and burning trash.

Any person convicted of violating would be guilty of a misdemeanor and punishable by a fine of not more than $500, imprisonment for not more than one year or both.

Outdoor cooking in approved cooking appliances is permissible on non combustible surfaces with due caution.

Other exemptions in the McClain County resolution include equipment related to road construction, welding, cutting torch, oilfield and landfill activities.
