Monday night Wayne dropped an 8-0 loss at Elmore City. That moved their season record to 15-8.

Tuesday they were in Vanoss, a late addition to their schedule.

The Bulldogs were in Union City on Wednesday for the District tournament. They played Southwest Covenant first at 11:30 a.m.

“We’ve been beaten out of Districts for the last 10  years or so, so we’re hoping to get some wins and move on. The guys have that mentality too; they’re ready to win and advance,” head coach Shane Collins said.

Elmore City

Hits were hard to come by on Monday in an 8-0 loss to the Badgers.

Braden McClendon had Wayne’s only hit, a single in the top of the fourth inning.

Four pitchers got a chance on the mound for the Bulldogs. McClendon pitched two innings, striking out one and walking one. Jaxon Dill, Ty Kemp and Duke Moore all got turns in relief.

“We tried to get everyone some time on the mound with Districts coming up,” Collins said.

Wewoka

Last Tuesday, Wayne got a lopsided, 18-6, win over Wewoka.

The Bulldogs collected 8 hits, including two each from Jaxon Dill and McClendon.

Wyatt Webster, Ty Kemp, Casey Kane and Logan Taylor had a hit apiece.

Dill finished with five ribbies. He singled and walked in the second inning and tripled in the third.

“We hit the ball well against Wewoka and we were more aggressive on the basepaths,” Collins said.

Wayne took the lead in the second inning after scoring 11 runs. Wewoka chipped away at that lead with six runs of their own in the bottom half of the second.

Wayne added seven more runs in the third. They held Wewoka scoreless for the run-rule.
