Brittany Lechelle Martin passed from this life on May 21, 2022, in Oklahoma City, at the age of 36 years 1 month, surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 Saturday, May 28, 2022, at Wadley’s Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell, entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service. Brittany was born April 21, 1986, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Ocedia Evans Martin Jr. and Kimberly Rochelle (Thompson) Martin. She was raised in Purcell until her sophomore year of high school and then moved to Norman, where she graduated from Norman High School in 2004. She later continued her education at ATI in Oklahoma City, becoming a certified Medical Assistant.
She and Glen Reaves have been together for 20 years, meeting in 2003. Brittany was a manager at Steinmart in Norman for years and then went to work for Dr. Ramakrishnan, then to Dr. Keith’s office. In high school, Brittany enjoyed track and field events and ran hurdles, even though she was scared, because no one else would. She made the best cheesecake and eggrolls, because she loved cooking and was dubbed the family chef. Brittany also enjoyed crafts, entertaining and recently started flower gardening.
Brittany loved kids, and always had a house full when she could. She was always the first to babysit any newborn and was nicknamed “Cookie” by her younger cousins, because she always had snacks. Brittany was an amazing selfless person who put everyone else’s and their needs ahead of her own. She was very giving and would help anyone she could, and always came through in a clutch.
Brittany was preceded in death by her father, Ocedia Martin Jr.; and her infant son, Glen Evans Reaves, Jr.; her maternal grandmother, Deborah Thompson Taylor; and her uncle, Devin Gillispie.
Survivors include her spouse, Glen Reaves; her mother, Kimberly Martin; her three daughters, Tia Reaves, Taysha Reaves and Tyra Reaves; her siblings, Samaria Martin, Donelle Martin and Brooke Clay, and Tonisha Martin; her God brother, Joseph “JoJo” Kirk; her honorary siblings, Evelyn Reaves, Latoya McKoy, CeCe McKoy, Stephanie McKoy and Ricky McKoy, Jr.; her mother-in-law, Linda Anderson and Leonard; her maternal grandparents, David Gillispie, Danny Cox and Janice; her paternal grandparents, Anna Martin and Floyd, Ocedia Martin Sr. and Chai; her 25 nieces and nephews; and numerous other relatives and friends.
