RN Sheila Hayden, PMH Nurse Manager, gave an excellent example of how the new LUCAS device saves lives to the Purcell Municipal Hospital Foundation Board of Directors Monday morning at the hospital.
The LUCAS is an EMS Basic Life Support (BLS) used when a crew cannot intubate for airway management or administer life-saving IV medication recently purchased by the Foundation.
PMH CEO/CNO Chris Wright reported a patient was recently transported to PMH who required Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). That patient was placed on the LUCAS device and survived because of efficient circulation maintained until they could get them to be properly treated.
“Having this device at PMH means we will free up resources that were previously required to do CPR compressions manually to do other life sustaining interventions,” Wright said.
“I am very appreciative to all who supported the PMH Foundation’s golf tournament that provided the funds to purchase this life-saving device,” Wright concluded.
The PMH Foundation Board of Directors includes chairman Jan Dye, Jacob Schnoebelen, Ronnie Beason, Jeremy Swanner, Candace McCurdy Clark, Savannah Pyle and Wright.
