Funeral services for Berniece Arnold, 96, of Yukon will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 19, 2026 at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at the Lexington Cemetery under the direction of the Wilson-Little Funeral Home of Purcell.
Mrs. Arnold passed away on March 15, 2026.
Bernice W. Arnold, formerly Berniece Mae Wilson, was born east of Lexington on April 22, 1929 to George and Maggie (Bryant) Wilson.
She accepted Christ at the age of 11 and attended Lexington First Baptist Church since the age of 13. Berniece served Christ in the church by teaching Sunday School for many years, serving wherever needed, and cooked and served many funeral meals throughout the years.
On November 29, 1947, she married Sam Arnold Jr. They were blessed with three sons, Kieren Dale, Randall and Max.
She taught at Lexington Public Schools for 30 years. It would have been much longer, but Sam talked her into retiring so they could travel together. The joy of her life was teaching 7th, 8th and 9th grades and teaching her sisters in Christ. Berniece always remembered all her students and had many stories to tell, and helped many through hard times with death, divorces and difficult home lives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Margaret Hudspeth and husband, Lon; brother, Bud Wilson; her son, Kieren Dale; brother-in-law, Raymond Cowan; nephew, Kyle Hudspeth; most of her classmates and many of her dearest friends.
She is survived by her sons, Randall and wife, Lynda, and Max and wife, Lavern; her sister, Grace Cowan; niece, Peggy Cowan; nephews, Mark Hudspeth and Danny Arnold; daughter-in-law, Khadija; her precious friend of 78 years, Joan Lambdin; ten grandchildren, Sam, George, Angie, Coby, Neal, Ashley, Wurda, Adam, Sarah and Selma and five great-grandchildren, Cole, Kate, Mason, Jayce and Samantha.
