Barry Chase Griffith, a devoted husband, loving father, caring brother and son, and cherished friend, passed away on February 27, 2025, surrounded by those he loved.
Born on March 26, 1977, to Don Griffith and Jeannie Frazier, Chase grew up in Purcell, Oklahoma, where he excelled both academically and athletically. A proud Purcell Dragon, he helped lead his high school’s basketball team to a state championship in 1994, earned recognition as a National Merit Scholar, and graduated in 1995 as valedictorian of his class.
He went on to attend the University of Oklahoma—where he met Meghan, the love of his life—before earning his law degree from Baylor University in 2003. After a decade practicing law, Chase found new success with Triumph Financial, building a career of which he was deeply proud.
More than anything, Chase was a family man. He and Meghan married in 2008 and built a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure alongside their two sons, Fletcher and Harrison. He had an insatiable curiosity and a passion for travel, taking trips with both immediate and extended family to Canada, Iceland, Mexico, the Caribbean, and any sandy beach where he could hear the ocean.
A lifelong Pearl Jam fan, Chase found joy in live music, music festivals, and loved participating in trivia challenges with friends and colleagues. He was also a voracious reader and never passed up the chance to share his sharp wit and wry sense of humor. A dedicated OU football fan, he made sure to pass down his love of sports to his boys.
Chase discovered his Christian faith as an adult and demonstrated it through the way he lived—filling each moment with passion, joy, and possibility.
Chase was preceded in death by his mother, Jeannie Frazier.
He is survived by his wife, Meghan Griffith, and their children, Fletcher, 13, and Harrison, 11; his father, Don Griffith and wife, Kellye; his brother, Brandon Griffith, wife Amy, and daughters, McKenna and Avery; his uncle, Felix Frazier and wife, Donna; his cousins, Rhett, Shamrah, Joaquin, Cassidy; and countless dear friends.
The family would like to thank Dr. Hans Hammers and Chase’s entire caring medical team at UTSW.
A memorial service will be held in Dallas, Texas, at University Park United Methodist Church on Saturday, March 22 at 3 p.m. followed by a reception at the home of Aaron and Kimberly Graft.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Kidney Cancer Research Alliance at www.kccure.org.
