Former Purcell Police officer Jason Baca was found not guilty of sexual battery by a jury in McClain County District Court on Tuesday.
The jury consisted of nine men and three women and deliberated for three hours, concluding a trial that started February 26.
If convicted, the officer could have faced up to 10 years in prison.
The incident in question occurred Aug. 13, 2020 at the Purcell City Lake.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation was in charge of the investigation that concluded with the charge.
Baca, who started working at Purcell in 2019, resigned in 2020.
He walked away from the courthouse Tuesday evening a free man.
The Honorable District Judge Leah Edwards presided over the trial.
