Wayne and Washington scrimmage Thursday, Purcell, Lexington Friday

Heart of Oklahoma football teams will have the opportunity to hit someone other than their own teammates as all four scrimmage this week.

Wayne and Washington will kick things off tonight (Thursday) with Washington going at Tuttle starting at 6 p.m.

After last Saturday’s intra squad scrimmage Warriors Head Coach Brad Beller saw his staff saw some positives and noted some areas to work on.

“We had a huge crowd even though our intra squad scrimmage was on the practice field,” Beller said of his three-time defending State Champions.

People sat in their parked trucks and used lawn chairs,” he said. “Even though it was not 100 percent live we had good on good and then the freshmen and junior varsity scrimmaged.

“It was a very, very productive scrimmage,” the coach said. “We found out some areas where we have depth and other areas we need to build some depth.”

Wayne will scrimmage at Southwest Covenant starting at 7 p.m.

The Bulldogs did not hold an intra squad scrimmage on Saturday, head coach Brandon Sharp said.

On Friday night, Purcell will host CCS and Community Christian in a three-way starting at 6 p.m.

After the annual Red-White scrimmage last Saturday night, head coach Aaron Dillard said he was “pleased with the outcome,”

“Everyone got quality and competitive reps on both offense and defense,” Dillard said. “I was pleased with the effort as a whole. There was a whole lot of good while also showing some weaknesses that we will have to improve on going forward.
“The important thing is we came out healthy,” he confirmed. “We saw some good things out of guys we expected to like Deaken Dobbins, Kaden Pliler, Carter Bennett, Oscar Wren, Ty Thoming and Aron Barrera all had solid scrimmages.

“We were also pleased with the contributions of guys that will have bigger roles this upcoming season including Cooper Selman, Cash Cook, Brody Walkup, Braylon Francis, Liam Cummings, Halo DiRienzo, Brian Cazares, Cannan Haynes and Carlos Lara,” Dillard said.

“All of those guys had solid moments on Saturday night. This next week we will continue to work on getting better on both sides and we anticipate having a really good showing against CCS and Crossing Christian on Friday,” he concluded.

Lexington will scrimmage at Wynnewood starting at 6 p.m. However, depending on the weather the starting time could be moved back a little later like 6:30 or 7, Lexington Athletic Director Wes Moore said. The Bulldogs did not scrimmage last Saturday.
