You can now add March 14, 2025 to the growing list of dates for tragedy in Stillwater.
There are probably others, but starting with the tragic plane crash that killed 10 young men on the way back from Colorado Jan. 27, 2001.
Then there as a second plane crash Nov. 17, 2011 that killed four people including OSU head women’s basketball coach Kurt Budke and assistant coach Miranda Serna in Arkansas.
Along came what was supposed to be a fun homecoming parade Oct. 24, 2015 that was marred when Adacia Chambers drove her vehicle into a crowd killing four and injuring 47 others.
Now comes March 14 when wildfires destroyed 400 homes in Oklahoma with nearly a fourth of them in Stillwater.
Stillwater officials reported 96 homes were destroyed and 120 more impacted in the western and southwestern parts of Stillwater.
County-wide, Payne County had 180 homes destroyed with another 229 impacted.
The good folks in Stillwater and the Cowboy Nation are ready to say, “calf rope” to all the tragedies.
Some of the families impacted by the fires on March 14 were also impacted by other Stillwater tragedies.
They need your prayers.
