Another sad day for America

Posted

The more I learn about the mass shooting in Uvalde, TX the more questions I have.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott said, “Uvalde has been shaken to its core.”

It’s just not Uvalde.

We all have been shaken by this tragedy.

Every parent, grandparent, aunt or uncle who has dropped a child off at school thinks about this situation.

Details are emerging like the off-duty US Customs and Border Protection agent Jacob Albarado, who was getting a haircut and got a text from his wife inside the school.

The story goes he got a shotgun from his barber and they went to the school to get other students and teachers out of the building.

Obviously he and the other law enforcement officers saved lives.

There is some discussion about police not entering the building initially.

That is causing some big time speculation.

McClain County Sheriff Landy Offolter said that’s the way they used to teach it.

“Used to, they would have officers secure the perimeter and wait on the tactical team,” Offolter said.

“But now it’s different and I would have a hard time not going in knowing there were children in there.”

So far, the exact details have not been provided.

But the event is so far reaching that Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Ukraine Foreign Affairs Minister Dmytro Kuleba have expressed their condolences.

Same for USA elected officials and former presidents.

And then there was the political stunt by gubernatorial candidate Beto O’Rourke at a press conference.

The U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland, the mayor of Uvalde and others have condemned O’Rourke’s outburst.

The deaths of those 19 children and the two teachers are not to be politicized.

All we can do here is pray for the families who are forever broken.

It’s another sad day for all Americans.
